AIG is committed to providing rapid and fair loss adjustment and settlement for all clients, whether a multinational corporation or a small sole proprietorship. You can also be confident than a claim occurring outside the U.A.E. will be dealt with in a similar manner because of our international network in more than 100 countries and jurisdictions.

For all Property, SME & Marine claims, we have introduced VBA (Value Based Adjusting) and STP (Straight Through Payment). This will expedite our claims process and reduce the need for you to submit numerous documents, etc. Claims is an integral part of the insurance cycle and we want to continue to make this process as simple & efficient as we can for you.

Business Claims Process

Claim Notification

Please ensure your loss notification contains the following basic information:

  1. AIG policy number
  2. Date of incident/loss
  3. Brief circumstances/details of loss
  4. Estimate of loss amount

Acknowledgement

We will acknowledge receipt of notification showing the allocated claim number and requesting relevant documentation according to each line of business and depending on each case merits.

Investigations

Our claims department will handle the case investigations (when necessary) and may decide to appoint a surveyor or loss adjuster.

Settlement

Settlement will be made by cheque or bank transfer after the following 3 steps:

  1. Completion of the claim file (necessary documents, reports, decision on validity of claim)
  2. Preparation and transmission of the claim discharge or acceptance form
  3. Signing of discharge or acceptance form by the policyholder, insured or beneficiary

Introducing Value Based Adjustment & Straight Through Processing

In order to enhance our claims experience, we are pleased to introduce two unique services:

  • Value Based Adjustment (VBA – introducing a new set of guidelines aimed at managing low value claims. VBA has a set of rules based on the value of the claim. We have redesigned the claims process with a focus on our customer claims experience, making the process faster and less dependent on the traditional documentation and processes.
  • Straight Through Processing (STP – an STP claim is intended to be finalised within the initial information/ documentation received without having to follow-up for details. A fast and speedy claims settlement.

VBA and STP claims services are currently offered on Property, SME, and Marine risks.

AIG Claims Promise

Finally, our claim promise affirms that that our dedicated team of claims experts will mobilize in rapid response to a covered event and after coverage is confirmed, we will advance our policyholders up to 50% of an agreed loss estimate within 7 days, providing them with immediate funds so they can get back to business and focus on the bigger picture.
